Wireless Troubleshooting

Wireless Troubleshooting …
Step:1 Connect the computer using Ethernet cable .
Step:2 Start Run Type “CMD” to get COMMAND PROMPT
Step:3 Type IPconfig to get the IP address and Default gateway.
Step:4 Check the IP address which is listed under the wireless network adaptor.
Note: if there is no IP address or if it’s different IP class when you compare with the Local area network connection IP address .
Step: 5 Click on Start, open Run window and type “ncpa.cpl”, Right click on Wireless network adaptor go to properties.
Step:6 Select Internet Protocol, then click on Properties.



Step:7 Select the option Obtain an IP address automatically. ( Check weather customer is able to connect to the wireless ) If still the issue persist , proceed further.
Step:8 Check customer is using any third party wireless drivers to connect to the wireless network ,if yes try to configure the wireless using Windows.
Step:9 Open Network Connection window by clicking on Start, open Run window and type “ncpa.cpl”, Right click on Wireless network adaptor go to properties.





Note: In the wireless Network Connection Properties, Look for the Tab “Wireless Networks” if the tab is not present or missing it means the Wireless is not configured using Windows or the services might be turned off . To configure the Wireless using Windows, do the following step.

Step:10 Click on Start , open Run window and type “services.msc” ,look for the services name “ Wireless Zero Configuration “ for Win XP .For Vista & Win 7 look for the services “ WLAN”

Step:11 Start the above services and make the startup type as Automatic.
Step:12 Restart the computer , then open the Wireless Network Connection Properties, You will find a tab called “Wireless Network”

Step:13 Search for the Available wireless network by right clicking on the wireless network adaptor. This will display the list of available wireless networks.

Step:14 Then try to connect to the Wireless network.
